Nihilist authors have appeared in Kremlin Death Note

English below

We currently lack enough information to believe or disbelieve in the Ukrainian Security Services statement that some of our authors have appeared in what’s being called ‘Putin’s Personal Fund’ — a list of names gathered from the results of the Babchenko case that seems to target Ukrainian bloggers and journalists for assassination. However, we do have a statement of our own to make:

The Kremlin is focused on eliminating its wayward subjects, those who have fled to Ukraine and other nations. This targeted assassination program has a high chance of targeting not only the Kremlin’s own Russian critics, but also Ukrainian politicians and media figures. However, some of the people in this list are probably not actual targets — they’re too low on the food chain for the Kremlin to care.

Of course, it’s pretty cool to be on a so-called Kremlin Death Note. But even for the Kremlin, killing every person who exposes the spy-game mysticism of the Russian regime in the Ukrainian war, is a little too troublesome of a task. Not to mention that such a program would carry its own risks, yes, even for Putin. Piercing the veil of Russian propaganda isn’t really an arduous task – just one that requires careful attention to detail and facts.

So that leaves us with two possibilities: Either the list is fake (or only partly true, or it’s not a hit list at all — the SBU didn’t leave any comments about the included names on the list), or the Russians have gotten so desperate as to pay tens of thousands of dollars to their own poorly disguised agents, just to kill a few pro-Ukrainian commentators. In all honesty, there could be tons of valid theories, but these two seem to us to be the most probable.
